Golfzon LPGA Match Play Challenge
May 22, 2020
Driven by GOLFZON Golf Simulators and Played in Real-Time Across the Ocean GOLFZON (www.golfzongolf.com) is proud to partner with the LPGA in announcing The GOLFZON LPGA Match Play Challenge; played internationally, in real-time on May 25, 2020, 7:00 a.m. (EST) at The World Golf Hall of Fame, St. Augustine, FL, and 8:00 p.m. (KST) at GOLFZON ZOIMARU, Daejeon, South Korea.
This competition will be played at the virtual Bethpage Black course.
This is no ordinary competition as it will be played indoors, on GOLFZON golf simulators, by super-star LPGA Tour players.
Inbee Park and So Yeon Ryu will pair up for Team Korea who will be challenging Lydia Ko (New Zealand) and Pernilla Lindberg (Sweden) for Team International.
Although the teams will be oceans apart for their tee time, GOLFZON golf simulator technology with its own proprietary Network Play mode allows them to play simultaneously, in real-time, on the same hole from tee to green and green to cup, as they will be putting everything out and conforming to the rules of golf.
The hitting mat consists of three different playing surfaces-bunker, rough and fairway-the type of terrain you will encounter on a real course.
In addition to these realistic hitting surfaces, the hitting platform moves hydraulically around eight directional pivots to match the real-life terrain features, such as downhill, side hill, and uphill.
“While most golf tours around the world are not being held due to COVID-19, I am happy that these LPGA Tour champions will be able to hold virtual tournaments indoor on golf simulators, specifically with GOLFZON’s global technological prowess connecting them across 13 hours of time difference in real-time,” said Kang Soo Park, CEO of GOLFZON. “I hope this ‘no-contact’ golf game will bring hope and comfort to golf fans around the world with entertainment.”
“This concept of GOLFZON LPGA Match Play Challenge is an exciting new development for the long term relationship between the LPGA and GOLFZON.” said Sean Pyun, Chief Business Officer-Asia. Through our partnership, we’ve witnessed firsthand the type of impact they have had in the Korean golf industry, from the standpoint of growing the game of golf in Korea. We are proud to present this event to the LPGA audience in partnership with GOLFZON.”
The game format is a 36-hole match play in two 18-hole rounds:
– Round 1 is a foursome match play
– Round 2 is a four-ball match play
– The winning team gets $10,000 in prize money donated to the charity to fight against COVID-19 in their names
– There will be no playoffs. If the match ends in a draw, the prize will be donated to charity on behalf of all four names
There will be live broadcast through GOLFZON YouTube and NaverTV on the day of the match play. On the air waves, JTBC Golf in Korea and Golf Channel in the US will be scheduled to air in a future date.
