CUSTOMER SPOLIGHT:
PAR & POUR

Par and Pour

When Mike and Ali Maquet decided to bring GOLFZON simulators to Enterprise, Alabama, they knew they weren’t just launching a business—they were creating a space where their local community could come together and experience golf in a whole new way. Nestled in a a proud military town with a love for the sport, Par and Pour offers something different: a place where everyone, from beginners to seasoned golfers, can enjoy the game in a relaxed, data-rich environment. In this Customer Spotlight, we’ll share how Ali’s tech background and passion for user experience helped guide their business, how Mike’s time spent abroad in the military inspired the journey, and why the people of Enterprise have rallied behind them.

Question: How did you first discover GOLFZON, and what led you to bring it to Enterprise?

Ali: It started when Mike came back from his second tour in Korea in May 2023. He spent a lot of his time there playing on GOLFZON simulators and was completely hooked. He’d dreamt of opening his own business around the simulators and asked me what I thought. After doing some research and trying out other systems, GOLFZON was the clear winner. Mike even built a simulator around another brand’s doppler-based system, but it just didn’t compare. That’s when we knew GOLFZON was the right move.

Q: Ali, your background is in tech. How did that prepare you for this business venture with GOLFZON?

Ali: My entire career has been focused on creating software solutions with the end user in mind. Whether it’s point-of-sale systems or education tech, my job was always to simplify and enhance the user experience. So, when Mike and I started looking at golf simulators, I naturally leaned toward systems that prioritized the user’s experience. GOLFZON, with its data-driven performance and customizable gameplay, fit perfectly. It’s more than just hitting balls—it’s about guiding users through a truly personalized experience, and that aligns with what I’ve always strived to do in the tech space.

Q: What was it about GOLFZON that made it stand out from the competition?

Mike: One of the biggest factors was how data-rich and customizable it is. As soon as I got back [from South Korea], I downloaded the GOLFZON app to track my progress, from beginner to advanced, and became obsessed with the data points. You can track everything—your swing, your accuracy, and more. It’s perfect for data nerds like us. The competitors we looked at either lacked the same level of detail or were clunky and hard to integrate. Plus, the fact that GOLFZON has a swing plate made it an easy decision.

Q: What’s the local golf culture like in Enterprise? How does your business fit in?

Ali: Enterprise is such a unique town. With Fort Novosel being home to Army aviation, we’ve got a tight-knit community full of active-duty personnel and retirees. Military culture here is different—it’s really about community support. Golf is the number one activity, and local businesses thrive because everyone rallies behind them. In fact, even some of our competitors, like the green grass courses and nearby bars, have been incredibly supportive. GOLFZON isn’t just competing with them; we see it as an opportunity to collaborate and offer something they can’t: a consistent, climate-controlled environment where players can improve their game.

Mike: Exactly. We realized early on that green grass golf courses aren’t competitors—they’re allies. In fact, we’ve made a point to support local courses and their events. GOLFZON’s simulators help golfers improve, so when they head out to the traditional courses, they’re better prepared and more confident.

Q: What’s been the community’s response to your facility?

Mike: Honestly, it’s been amazing. We’re located just a stone’s throw from Main Street in one of the oldest buildings in Enterprise. It’s a beautiful, historic spot surrounded by brick buildings and murals, with food trucks and outdoor stage next to us—it’s like something out of a Hallmark movie. The local community has really embraced us, and it feels like everyone is rooting for us to succeed. We’ve even seen support from other businesses. It’s rare for a business to fail here because the town is so invested in its success.

Ali: The community’s been incredible, but what really excites us is the opportunity to bring new players into the game. Some people are too intimidated to try golf on an outdoor course for the first time, but with GOLFZON, they can learn in a low-pressure, fun environment. Our simulators have animated courses like Robotron and arcade games that appeal to younger audiences, and our staff loves recommending fun, family-friendly options like skeeball. It’s helped us introduce the game to so many new people.

Q: What’s next for your business and the GOLFZON community in Enterprise?

Mike: We’re really excited to keep growing our customer base. We’ve already got a steady stream of regulars, and as more people hear about us, we’re going to continue supporting local courses and helping people improve their game. It’s a great partnership—GOLFZON helps us offer something different from outdoor courses, and in turn, we’re helping golfers get better before they hit the real greens.

Ali: Ultimately, our goal is to create a space where the entire community, from beginners to experienced golfers, can enjoy themselves. Whether it’s playing a serious game or having fun in arcade mode, we want to be the go-to spot for everyone in Enterprise who loves golf. And with the support of the community, I think we’re well on our way.
